The wildest comedy show/drinking game/game show in the country returns to Manhattan February 22nd!! Comedians’ Power Hour (CPH) is a touring comedy show that pits two comedians in head-to-head competition telling jokes and taking shots of beer on an exciting and inebriated journey to be crowned Power Hour Champion. This month’s Comedians Power Hour features a duel between Jeff Arcuri Vs. Jeff Scheen Doors at 9:30pm Inspired by the college drinking game, a CPH has comics trading off doing two-minute sets of stand-up all the while taking 2oz. shots of beer between each set. As the hour goes on, hosts throw out challenges that play into the comics’ intoxication levels like doing two minutes of another comics’ material or giving a drunken Best Man Speech. Hosted by Sarah Kennedy and Brett Hiker, CPH originated in Albuquerque, NM and now has offshoots in NYC, Denver, Austin, Seattle and tours everywhere in between. Seeing a chance to change the typical comedy show format, a handful of Albuquerque comics created a game show that features a mixture of comedic styles and genres. Voted several times as one of the Top Ten Best Comedy Shows in Denver, Westword describes CPH as, “A paen to comedic inebriation, [that] calls upon comics to compete in an increasingly absurd gauntlet of standup challenges punctuated by shots of beer.

Oh, you like “smart” comedy do you? Well have you ever been to a sketch comedy show based on the writing of David Foster Wallace, you poser? Infinite Sketch: Brief Interviews with Hideous Sketches is a sketch comedy show that pays loving tribute to every annoyingly depressed 22-year-old’s favorite problematic writer. The show features an experimental narrative structure, characters that are somehow both one-dimensional and extremely complex, and of course footnotes and endnotes and run-on sentences and more footnotes (don’t forget parentheticals. You will love the parentheticals!) It’s the only sketch show that makes you look smart just by seeing it.* Hosted by Myles Hewette and Sam Bourne. One of them is a big DFW fan, the other does not know we’re doing this! *Don’t worry, you don’t have to have ever read a book to enjoy this show. Featuring: Sam Bourne Hattie Hayes Myles Hewette Maurice Licorish Patrick J. Reilly Matt Storrs Rosa Escandón

Each month, the Masters of Social Gastronomy take on a curious food topic and break down the history, science, and stories behind them. This month, we cover the human body from mouth to butt. What's the story with your microbiome, all those little microbes living in your gut? Soma takes apart the science behind the ecology of our insides, including laying down the law about pro- and anti-biotics. Sarah reveals what studying the mouth and teeth of our earliest human ancestors reveals about evolution, and what the discovery of the World's Oldest Poop - officially known as "paleofeces" - tells us about the Neanderthal diet. Sneak peak: an authentic Paleo Diet includes cannibalism. For Story Time, special guest sewage expert Kimberly Worsham will give us a run down on the long and fascinating history of toilets, from ancient Mesopotamia to today. Doors: 6:30pm / Show: 7:00pm Tickets: $10 adv / $12 door 21+ Please note this is a mixed seated and standing venue. Please arrive early for the best seats. She appears on the Cooking Channel’s Food: Fact or Fiction? and is 1/2 of the Masters of Social Gastronomy with co-founder Jonathan Soma. Currently, she works with museums and galleries around the city to create public programs focused on food, including institutions such as The American Museum of Natural History, The Museum of Science, Boston, and The Lower East Side Tenement Museum. Her first book, Eight Flavors: The Untold Story of American Cuisine, was published with Simon & Schuster in 2016. Soma was born in the South, is what someone from the North would say. He cooks for fun, codes for hire, and has more hobbies than can dance on the head of a pin. His work has been featured everywhere from Gawker to The New York Times.
