On Monday, March 19, 2018 the Bed-Stuy Beauty Collective, sponsored by the Bed-Stuy Gateway Business Improvement district will host its first Madam C.J. Walker Leadership Awards event. The event will be held at the historic Billie Holiday Theatre at 1368 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY at 6:30PM.
The Collective is a committee of experienced professionals in the Personal Care industry that are dedicated to establishing our BID as THE BEAUTY DESTINATION of Brooklyn. “Many people are unaware of the culture that the Personal Care industry brings to the Bedford Stuyvesant community,’ says the Bed-Stuy BID’s President, Medina Sadiq. The Collective is recognizing hard-working and unsung professionals in Madam Walker’s name because of her innovation and entrepreneurship. The ultimate goal is to promote and market the Bed-Stuy Personal Care businesses to draw clientele that will bring economic growth to the individual businesses, and the Bed-Stuy community at large.
Endorsed by the Great-granddaughter of Madam C.J. Walker, A’Lelia Bundles and co-signed by Brooklyn Borough President, Eric L. Adams, seven Awardees will be recognized for their leadership and dedication. Furthermore, the Bed-Stuy BID will receive a Proclamation, declaring March 19th as Bed-Stuy Beauty Day! This event is free to the public but RSVP is required at www.thebedstuybid.org
