Composers Concordance presents its 7th Annual Festival, entitled 'Art of Sound'. Inspired by contemporary art in NYC, the festival consists of five concerts, to be held at a wide array of venues.
Composers Concordance continues its 'Art Of Sound' festival with the multimedia event entitled 'Andy Warhol: Tap Dancer.' The compelling statement from Andy Warhol: "I never wanted to be a painter; I wanted to be a tap dancer," serves as the basis for the program, featuring the acclaimed tap dancer and body percussionist Max Pollak. In celebration of one of New York's greatest artists, innovative video clips combine with the unusual instrumentation of french horn, guitar, violin, congas, electric bass, keyboards, and electronic sound, for an eclectic set of premieres from composer-performers Gene Pritsker, John Clark, Mark Kostabi, Lynn Bechtold, Dan Cooper, Troy Rinker Jr. and Samuel Torres.
Composers Concordance's 7th Annual Festival is made possible in part with public funds from Creative Engagement / Creative Learning, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. LMCC.net
